FAQs
Find out all you need to know about our tours, from where we depart to what to bring on board.
General
Our whale watching tours are a minimum 3 – 4 hours. A bespoke wildlife tour can be arranged for a private group pending availability.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather whether sunny or cold. Make sure to wear a windproof/waterproof jacket, suitable outdoor footwear, appropriate hat, water and snacks as the trip is up to 4 hours long.
We keep up to date on weather conditions so last minute cancellations are unusual, but not unavoidable at times. If a trip is cancelled due to bad weather, we will do our very best to reschedule an alternative date with you or offer a full refund.
We recommend children to be at least 4 years for whale watching tours and fishing trips.
We do not take dogs/pets on board unless they are trained assistance dogs.
To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip, here are some practical tips to help prevent seasickness:
- Eat Lightly: Have a small, low-fat meal 1-2 hours before departure. Avoid heavy, greasy, or spicy foods, and don’t board on an empty stomach
- Stay Hydrated: Drink water, but avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine, which can worsen symptoms.
- Medication: Consider over-the-counter remedies like ‘Kwells’, ‘Stugeron’ or ‘Phenergan’ (follow package instructions) or consult a doctor for prescription options like scopolamine patches.
Take these at least 30-60 minutes before boarding.
Choose Your Spot Wisely
- Stay in the middle of the boat, where motion is less intense.
- Face forward and focus on the horizon to help your brain align with the boat’s movement.
- Get fresh air on deck, avoiding enclosed spaces or areas with strong fuel odours.
Minimise Motion:
- Avoid reading, scrolling on devices, or focusing on close-up objects, as this can trigger nausea.
- Stay seated and keep your head still when possible.
- Natural Remedies: Ginger (sweets, tea, or supplements) can help settle your stomach. Acupressure wristbands (like Sea-Bands) may also provide relief.
Breathe Deeply:
- Slow, steady breaths can calm your body and reduce nausea.
- Snack Smart: Nibble on plain crackers or sip clear fluids like water or ginger ale to keep your stomach settled.
- Stay Cool: Overheating can worsen symptoms, so dress in layers and seek shaded or breezy areas.
If You Feel Seasick:
- Focus on the horizon or a distant point to reorient yourself.
- Lie down if possible, ideally in a well-ventilated area.
- Inform a crew member—we’re here to assist.
Pro Tip: Relax and enjoy the journey! Anxiety can worsen seasickness, so take deep breaths and focus on the adventure ahead.
